Flashback - Stuck in the Rain 2009

This is a video from over a year ago when I still had my Jeep CJ5. I was fixing it up after doing the priming and painting. I had bought a new windshield from a local salvage yard. This is a video of me taking the old windshield back to exchange it for some windshield wipers. A much needed accessory that is punctuated by the irony of a summer rain storm cropping up shortly after I arrive, effectively trapping me and my dog inside while we wait for it to pass. And the bimini top (half top covering only the front two seats) was not designed to protect occupants from rain. It was a fun rain storm though and my spirits were running high.

Some more Fun Time

I have been spending some more time catching up with friends. After leaving the lake I went to Greenville to visit my friend Heather. I have been having a great time catching up. I have also been able to let my inner child out for a little romp. Heather's daughter, Olivia, gave me several tattoos...the temporary variety. Another night, I broke out some old Halloween makeup and surprised the girls with my rendition of Zombie man. Oh how I wish I had the video rolling when I unveiled my change over. I began to worry I wouldn't be able to convince them that it was only makeup and that I wasn't really the newest member of the undead. Finally, they calmed down and I shot some pics and video. See below...

I believe Olivia hasn't fully recovered from the shock of 'The Zombie' .

Karen has no problem embracing my make believe side.

Slave Cylinder Repair Part 3

I had to repair the slave cylinder AGAIN! This time it went out just as I got to Greenville. Totally failed. No bus movement. I went to Autozone and got a new one. Curiously it was only $14, funny because repair place charged me $86 for part and $400 for labor. I fixed it (hopefully permanently this time) in an hour and a half. The problem was incorrect installation that caused cylinder seal to wear out on one side.

Catching up

I have comment on how I haven't been blogging as much as I like. Since I have been taking a break from working and now have been camping my internal batteries are recharged. It doesn't hurt that I have taken the plunge and purchase an aircard so I can get online where ever I may be. This may be one of the single best investments I have made in months.
I have been camping at Lake Hartwell for the past week and a half. Midweek has made the campground virtually empty. Then Labor Day rolls up and it quickly filled up. Currently I am at Twin Lakes campground and lucky to be here. I got online last week and got a campsite from a last minute cancellation. The campsites have been sold out since last April! Sometimes good fortune shines upon this wandering soul.
Below are some pics from my latest location.

My favorite pair of boots that got retired last week. Most comfortable, bestest boots ever!!
Alas, the soles gave out. Holes in the bottom, no tread left.
